The first mention is in Gripping it weekly (January 27, exit 1872) where the 3rd price in December, exposure of palate of 1871 crystals was taken by the Abyssinian cat (”captured towards the end of the Abyssinian war”). This article is accompanied by an illustration of the Abyssinian cat. In the British book, by stables of Gordon, the cats, their points, and the characteristics… published in 1874, there is also mention of an Abyssinian. The book shows a coloured lithography of a cat with a coat and an absence made tic TAC of the inscriptions of tabby on the legs, the face and the neck. Description reads: “Zula, the property of Barrett-Lennard Mrs. captain.
